The Manaslu region is one of Nepal's most spectacular Himalayan trekking destinations, offering dramatic mountain scenery, traditional villages, rich Buddhist culture and remote Himalayan landscapes.
Because parts of the Manaslu region are designated as restricted areas, foreign trekkers must obtain the appropriate trekking permits before entering the restricted area.
Trekkers must arrange their Restricted Area Trekking Permit through a registered trekking company in Nepal and must be accompanied by a licensed trekking guide.
A single foreign trekker can now obtain a Restricted Area Trekking Permit for Manaslu and Tsum Valley. The previous minimum requirement of two foreign trekkers was removed in March 2026. However, solo travellers must still trek with a licensed guide and cannot trek independently without a guide.
Important: Fees charged in Nepali Rupees (NPR) are shown in NPR. The approximate USD equivalent may vary depending on the exchange rate on the day of payment.
The Manaslu Restricted Area Trekking Permit is required for foreign trekkers entering the designated restricted area of the Manaslu region.
