The Nar Phu Valley Trek is one of Nepal's most remarkable off-the-beaten-path adventures, taking you deep into the remote highlands of the Annapurna region.
This 9-day journey leads from the lower Marsyangdi Valley into the restricted valleys of Nar and Phu, where ancient Tibetan-influenced culture, traditional stone villages, Buddhist monasteries, dramatic Himalayan landscapes, and centuries-old mountain traditions remain beautifully preserved.
The trek combines the remote landscapes of the Nar Phu Valley with the spectacular crossing of Kang La Pass at approximately 5,320 m / 17,450 ft, before descending toward the Annapurna Circuit village of Ngawal and continuing to the lower Marsyangdi Valley.
Unlike the busier sections of the classic Annapurna Circuit, Nar Phu offers a genuine sense of remoteness and discovery. The valley remains relatively isolated, providing an opportunity to experience a unique Himalayan environment where traditional culture and high-altitude mountain life continue to play an important role.
Because Nar Phu is a government-designated restricted trekking area, a special trekking permit is required, and the trek must be arranged through an authorized trekking agency with the required guide and documentation.
The Nar Phu Valley Trek is ideal for trekkers looking for an experience beyond Nepal's more popular trekking routes.
Travel through secluded mountain landscapes, dramatic gorges and high-altitude valleys far from the busier trekking trails.
Experience traditional Tibetan-influenced Buddhist culture, ancient monasteries, chortens, mani walls and centuries-old village traditions.
Challenge yourself with the crossing of Kang La Pass, one of the major highlights of the journey, and enjoy breathtaking views across the Annapurna Himalayas.
Explore traditional settlements such as Meta, Phu and Nar, where stone houses, cultivated fields and mountain traditions remain an important part of local life.
The trek brings together remote valleys, high mountain passes, dramatic scenery, cultural discovery and warm local hospitality in one carefully planned journey.
